First, make sure to download AVG Free and save the file to your desktop.
When you’re ready to start, double-click on the AVG installation program icon and follow the prompts. If you have a previous version of AVG already installed, you might be warned that this will uninstall the old version, which is ok.





I’m not a big fan of the AVG Security Toolbar, as it alters the appearance of your web browser when searching. In my case, I prefer to remove the checkmark from the box and simply click next.




Once you are done installing the program, you’ll need to update it with the latest virus definitions. You’ll see the following window appear automatically after installing AVG:

This next one is a tough call. If you’re wanting to keep yourself safe, accepting the default scan settings is a smart choice. If you’re concerned about your computer slowing down and you’re willing to take the risks of not performing daily anti-virus scans of your computer, you can uncheck the “Enable daily scanning” option. Either way, you’ll still get real-time virus protection (although not as comprehensive).

If you do decide to disable the daily scanning, you’ll be prompted with this warning message:








That’s it! AVG is now installed on your computer. Additionally, you should find a new AVG Free icon on your desktop if you should ever want to manually run the Anti-Virus program.
